Well, again it has been a while...

I have a new job at Plexis Healthcare which started Oct 13th, 2014. I am under a retainer from Pharmacy Computer Services still so I am still employed by the same company since Sept 26, 2006. I am still a developer but am less hands-on at my current position as an Enterprise Architect. In some ways it is fulfilling when I can allow myself to go into analytical mode like I do when I am coding. One of these days I will start my own business and work my own ours. Jorge Yant has a great thing going with Plexis and that is where I see myself in a few more years.

Camping trip to Horseshoe Bend on the Umpqua (Trish is happy, really)
Trish and I are taking time to enjoy each other with trips on the Harley. We will sometimes just pack a bag and just go to the coast to get away. Then other times we will plan to go to a concert and hit some points along the way. We also like to take camping trips.

2002 Harley Sportster 1200 Custom / 2004 Harley Electra Glide Classic
I am thinking about putting together a couple of blogs for my 2nd love, my motorcycles. I would like to have a history of the changes that I make on the Sportster. I woud also like to have a blog of the trips we take on the Electra Glide.

Greta is happy, really

We purchased a house in 2012 and Greta moved in around the same time. As of now the kids are still living at home but, we're working on making them ready for the real world.

Til next time!

From my command-line

This is such a sweet tool for the console. Why didn't I think of this. Oh well...back to the brainstorming.

Been a few months...

I need a new job, a side job, or a raise in order to get moving forward. I can't stand working paycheck to paycheck; I realize that a great portion of Americans feel the same way, but I am just tired of working my ass off and don't even own a house.

Tired

Yea, I know, Mondays are always a slow and tedious day.

This weekend I attended a (so called) poker game; I was expecting some regular poker games such as: 5 card stud, 7 card stud, Texas Hold'em and yes maybe even 5 card draw; But, alas was disappointed with the parlor games that they were playing (too many rules, too many versions).

Sunday was a good day for sports: 0930 was the Pittsburgh Penguins VS. New York Rangers, right after that was the NFC championship game (Arizona Cardinals VS. Philadelphia Eagles) and the AFC championship game (Pittsburgh Steelers VS. Baltimore Ravens). All good games, and all worth my time.

I have the first stages of the "Endgine" project written; A binary tree based message bus with domain support. Most of the bindings to that bus from the GLUT library. Now I need to incorporate an audio library (probably OpenAL) and a physics library (Bullet maybe). I will probably stay with all open standard API's and file formats (GLSL, COLLADA, PNG, and Ogg). The goal is to be fully standards based and portable to most platforms (Linux, Apple, Windows etc.). I would like to keep it flexible enough to be bootstrapped to consoles (PS3 etc.).

just testing...

The thought of blogging straight from my smart phone is a good idea.

Been a while...

Well it's been a while since I have made a post, but not a whole lot has happened.

I have so many idea's in my head on what to start on, personally, to make money. Programming at work sort of stifles my idea's that I need to start working on. I keep the mindset of how to assemble things, but that doesn't always transfer to my personal projects; they are more cutting edge and not like standard business models, but I suppose that is a good thing. At least I have the industry's expectations in mind.

Saturday, December 6, 2008

Saturday in the house, I think it was the 6th of December.

Most of the time Saturdays are filled with sleeping in and having a good breakfast. Now, we have a new puppy, and he is on a time schedule that doesn't cease for the weekend; getting up at 5:30am is normal during the week for us, just not during the weekend. Trish says we can just take a nap, I am not much for naps during the day, but sometimes...

Paul M. called me this morning at 6:00am asking about the services on a client's server that is going live this weekend (good thing I was up). Ever since the firewall has been reinforced at work, getting to the network at work has been a real pain in the ass. We ship servers with Linux on them, but it doesn't seem that we are supporting Linux for developer workstations...kindof a double standard if you ask me. If they would just allow SSH, I wouldn't have any problem with their weak PPTP vpn setup. I think I will ask Travis to instruct the IT staff to allow SSH as an alternative (a more secure alternative).

Well I suppose I need to get back to reality...
